Designers and design students use furniture and decor items donated or purchased through thrift shops, then refurbish and repurpose as needed, giving a home a stylish new look.

This event raises more money for North State Symphony than anything we've ever done! The scrolling list shows the many businesses which supported the event in 2012 by donating goods and services. Creekside Cellars

This fundraiser offered a raffle of outstanding gifts, wine and tour packages -- all for the benefit of the North State Symphony -- with the sweet sounds of some of the symphony members playing a little here and there throughout the afternoon. Over 70 wines were available to try, as well as an artisan cheese table to nibble on and grilled tidbits to enhance the wines.

Our piano soloist for September Symphony concerts, Spencer Myer, will be performing classical favorites by Haydn and Liszt, works of the French and Spanish repertoire, and some favorite Gershwin tunes. Program: Sonata, Haydn; Preludes, Debussy; Sonnets of Petrarch excerpt, Liszt; Iberia excerpt, Albeniz; Gershwin Selections (arr Earl Wild); Caprice espagnole, Moszkowski. Don't miss this unique opportunity!

The Chico Guild's Prelude Party raises the curtain for the new concert season. The setting is always in a beautiful garden with delicious hors d'oeuvres, wine, and music performed by NSS players.

The annual Prelude Party is the traditional start to symphony seasons in Chico, and a fine way to learn more about the Symphony and the Guild, which especially welcomes possible new members to the Party.

2012 Mozart Mile 5K results (PDF)

The Mozart Mile is a favorite tradition of the Chico community. Walk, run, stroll, saunter or stride along a level course through Bidwell Park on a beautiful autumn morning. Musicians from the North State Symphony, Chico Country Day School, other local music groups, and even dancers from Chico Community Ballet entertain along the way! Proceeds benefit the Symphony and youth music. A level running, jogging or strolling course in Bidwell Park is the locale for this unique community event, as musicians from the Symphony and local youth music groups entertain you.

5k run starts at 8:30 am. Fun/dog walks begins immediately after.

 

Young Artist Auditions

Free and open to the public

Each year, young classical musicians from the North State area compete in high school and university divisions of auditions sponsored by the Chico Guild and Redding League on behalf of the North State Symphony. First prize winner in each division wins the opportunity to solo with North State Symphony.

$75 per person. $30 per person is a tax-deductible gift.

With Scholarship Fanfare Plus, the Chico Guild supports the symphony and young musicians in our commmunity. Attendance and donations help talented young musicians who study and perform classical music, and directly benefits the North State Symphony.

A gourmet dinner, entertainment, a raffle and silent auction are all part of the experience.

Menu options:

  • Filet Mignon-Beef Tenderloin, Hand Cut to 9oz. and Charbroiled
  • Sterling Salmon-Grilled with Caper Dill Cream, served on Lundberg Farm's Wild Rice Pilaf with Lemon
  • Portabella Parmesan-Mozzarella and Spinach Stuffed Portabella Mushroom topped with Marinara Sauce and Parmesan Cheese, served over Fettuccine Pasta

The beautiful giclee print by Clifford Bailey, "Rhapsody", has been the theme and inspiration of the Symphony's 2012-2013 season. Attractively framed, it will be available as one of the items in the auction.
