Frankenstein: Film with Live Soundtrack
See one of the most recognizable characters in film history, Frankenstein’s monster, played by Boris Karloff in this 1931 classic black and white film. The North State Symphony will perform the spooky score written in 2002 by Grammy-nominated composer Michael Shapiro. This haunting music adds significantly to the emotional impact of director James Whale’s film, which was originally produced without background music.
The classic and definitive monster/horror film of all time, director James Whale’s Frankenstein (1931), is the screen version of Mary Shelley’s Gothic 1818 nightmarish novel of the same name: Frankenstein; Or, The Modern Prometheus. The film, with Victorian undertones, was produced by Carl Laemmle Jr. for Universal Pictures.
